☑️ Use salvaged products. Depending on the project, preferred material type, and amount of material needed, using salvaged products, like reclaimed wood, can provide a cost saving solution that helps divert substance from the landfills and they can be beautiful! If you are looking for a place to source salvaged material, check out Second Use! ☑️Consider energy efficient solutions. There are many ways that you can create an energy efficient home, like auto-shut off faucets, energy saving appliances, and even solar panels. Be sure to ask your general contractor for energy saving recommendations that can lower your utility bill and your carbon footprint! ☑️ Implement green spaces. Speaking with your architect/designer about implementing green spaces into your project can improve the air quality of your home as well as boost your wellbeing in the space by lowering stress levels! ☑️ Donate materials in good condition. Any appliances, cabinets, counters, light fixtures, etc. that you are ready to part with can often be donated if they are in the right condition. Not all materials can be recycled but there may be more than you think. Materials like wood, metal, drywall, appliances, concrete, and brick can be recycled through the right company!
